During the weekend of Friday 7th -Sunday 9th April, the Boys’ Brigade sections celebrated 75 years of the 58th Belfast Company in Alexandra. This included their B.B. Display, which was held on Friday 7th April. The theme for the evening was the Object of the Boys’ Brigade, with the items centering around the B.B. habits of Obedience, Discipline, Reverence, Self-Respect and Christian Manliness. Former B.B. member, Alan Logan, was the Inspecting Officer.

On Sunday 9th April, a special anniversary service was held in the evening, with special guests, the Boys’ Brigade Centenary Male Voice Choir providing a repertoire of fitting pieces. Former B.B. member and officer, Rev. Ivan Ferris was the speaker. A lovely supper was enjoyed afterward in the church hall.

The next big event for the 58th is their Anniversary Dinner in October. Keep your eyes peeled for more information closer to the time, or have a look on their Facebook page.

It has been great to join again with our neighbours in Newington and Seaview Presbyterian Churches for our joint services during the Easter season. Our joint Palm Sunday service was held in Alexandra, with the Good Friday service being in Newington and the Easter Sunday evening service held in Seaview. These a valuable times spent together. We look forward to our series of joint Advent services at the end of the year.
