    Free Food Friday

Each Friday morning you will find the Free Food Friday table outside our church building on Castleton Avenue.

This arrives each Friday at 9.15am and is run in conjunction with Fare Share, the food waste charity. We link up with Tesco to provide food which has just gone past its sell-by date, instead of throwing it away we put it on the table and it is free to anyone who can make use of it.

You’ll find a mix of bakery, fruit and vegetable items.

Online Service – Sunday 5th July

With Alexandra remaining closed due to the pandemic, please find this week’s online service below. We hope to return to joining together in person from Sunday 26th July and more details regarding the arrangements for this will be given in due course.

Today our minister, Rev. Ian Cahoon, concludes his series on the 10 Commandments, ‘Living as God’s People’, by looking at the final commandment and thinking about what it means to covet. You will find the Bible reading for today’s service in Luke 12:13-21.

You can access all of the previous online services by visiting our YouTube channel. Click here to be taken to it.

Living Christianity – new Sunday evening series

Beginning on Sunday 23rd February, we will start our series on ‘Living Christianity’. This is a five-part series produced by the Christian Institute and involves a short DVD each time, with some questions for us to think about afterwards.

The series is designed to help us think through some of the big issues of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in 2020, such as Christians and the world, Christians and work, life, gender, marriage and family.

This will be in a relaxed environment to help us think through some of the big issues and what God’s Word says about them.

Even if you don’t normally come along on Sunday evening, please think about committing to these five sessions as God encourages us through His Word.

    Presbyterian Children’s Society

It is the time of year when donations are collected for the Presbyterian Children’s Society (PCS). Throughout November Barbara Spratt will be accepting donations on behalf of PCS. PCS continues to help many Presbyterian children and their families who face financial hardship. Please consider making a donation to the Society this year.

If you wish to have a collection card or make a single donation, please speak to Barbara Spratt. Additional information on PCS is available on the table at the back of the church.

Christmas Cards designed by Wesley Lewis are on sale at the back of the Church. Proceeds will also go towards the PCS. Packs of 5 cards can be bought for £3 each or 2 packs for £5.

    The Wee Cafe

The Wee Cafe, our new weekly drop-in cafe in Alexandra, is now up and running. This will run each Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon and is completely FREE of charge. We’ll have tea, coffee, scones, buns, a kids’ corner and a free lending library of Christian books.

We want to use this as a time where we can make connections and build relationships with people from the community, who we don’t or won’t currently see in Alexandra. Please keep passing on the news to anyone who you think might benefit from coming along, whether a neighbour glad of the company, a parent or grandparent with toddlers, they will be made really welcome.
